AT LEAST 35 homes and 166 sheds have been destroyed in the devastating Pinery bushfire, the CFS have confirmed.
A further 42 homes have been damaged.
Firefighters worked through the night and are close to bringing the blaze under control.
Hmmm...it seems the ABC are not infallible eh?

Honestly Spook.......I doubt they will know exactly how many are destroyed for weeks......
You are probably right there, Dave.

Pinery fire contained 27/11/2015 The Pinery fire has now been contained.
However, the community is reminded that there is still some active fire well within the control lines so risks are still present.
Visibility may be reduced from smoke in the area and there is a danger of falling trees.
Residents are advised to check their properties for the presence of fires and embers - particularly in roof spaces, under decks, raised floors and in gutters. The public is advised to take care in the fire area over the next few days.
CFS crews, supported by crews from Victoria's CFA, will continue to monitor the fire day and night over the weekend.
To ensure the safety of Emergency Service workers working along the roadsides around the Pinery fire ground, road users are reminded that the speed limit is 25 kph when passing emergency vehicles with flashing lights operating.
CFS would like to thank the hundreds of volunteers for their continued effort since the fire started on Wednesday. The support from MFS, SES, DEWNR, PIRSA , DCSI and other agencies throughout this incident is sincerely acknowledged.
A community meeting will be held at the Kapunda Institute Memorial Hall on Hill Street, Kapunda today at 4pm. Alternatively the community affected are encouraged to call the Bushfire Recovery Hotline of 1800 302 787 if they have any questions or concerns.
For those wanting to make donations, cash is the most helpful donation for disaster-affected communities as it helps those impacted to buy exactly what they need. Instructions on how to donate money are on the Pinery Fire Appeal page at www.sa.gov.au
St Vincent de Paul has been appointed to manage any goods donated during this disaster. Contact the St Vincent de Paul donations hotline on 8112 8777. Please do not leave donated goods at relief centres as they do not have the capacity to manage donations.

Pete and Smokey, you and ALL, CFS, St john and SES volunteers are heroes and should be thanked every time you go out there to help people, especially those who don't prepare for a fire

Federal government have declared the SA BUSHFIRE as a Natural disaster so this is great as things will happen faster.Sadly 90 people treated or still in hospital 5 are critical with burns and some 85 homes lost.

The Pinery fire is contained however; the community is reminded that there have been some flare-ups within the control lines. With today's expected weather conditions of high temperatures and strong winds there is potential for the existing control lines to be breached. There will be increased smoke and dust throughout the area.Residents in the fire ground are advised to continue to check their properties for the presence of fires and embers - particularly in roof spaces, under decks, raised floors and in gutters. All South Australians should remain alert and enact their bushfire survival plans for today's fire danger index in their fire ban district.
Dust is blanketing roads north of Adelaide, as wind picks up across the Pinery fire ground.
Came down through there yesterday coming home. You could certainly see where the fires went through... hay bales were just small black lumps scattered through the paddocks. The paddocks themselves were almost all dirt with very little else left on the ground - must've been really ferocious for everything to be blown away like that. There were a few veeerrrry lucky escapes along the way with burnt trees and paddocks right up to the houses. Not so lucky for some though unfortunately.
Makes you really feel for those that lost their lives, property and stock. Really sad, emotional stuff when you see it first hand like that.

Gerry
Know what you mean mate.
We went up to Kersbrook about a month ago, and whilst there is substantial regrowth occurring, the devastation, and extent, caused by the Sampson Flat fire is amazing.
To comprehend the extent of this fire, and the distance it travelled in such a short time, is extremely hard to comprehend !!!
Our thanks go out again to the brave souls, that often forego their own circumstances (properties etc), to attend these disasters for the sake of others.
Well done CFS and Volunteers.

Comparing the 2 fires, about 5 times the area which was burnt in the Samson flat fires over one week, was destroyed in 4 hours in the Pinery fire They just said on the news that the damage bill of the Samson flat was $36 million So far it is $75 million at Pinery

Spent another session on the fire truck again today, conditions have not been the best today, called to a flare up at Freeling which burnt another 3ha. Spent a bit time this afternoon on fire watch while a fellow CFS and farmer mates hay shed, which had 1000 large bales destroyed, was being demolished. It was good to catch up with him and his son and provide a bit of 'pastoral care' to one of our 'flock'. Pete
