Gerry
Know what you mean mate.
We went up to Kersbrook about a month ago, and whilst there is substantial regrowth occurring, the devastation, and extent, caused by the Sampson Flat fire is amazing.
To comprehend the extent of this fire, and the distance it travelled in such a short time, is extremely hard to comprehend !!!
Our thanks go out again to the brave souls, that often forego their own circumstances (properties etc), to attend these disasters for the sake of others.
Well done CFS and Volunteers.

My Jayco has a SMEV branded cooker, so I think it should be fine, but as we are always on the lookout for an update to the van, it would be a good thing to watch out for in any future vans.

Hmm
This has been going on for 3 months
Apparently a manufacturer, or manufacturers, ignored the Swift Installation instructions and fitted the gas appliance their own way ... I have read of 3 vans (all the same maker) that have had gas explosions because of this fault.
I would strongly urge anyone with a Swft Cooker to get it checked out ASAP .
Thanks Spook for posting the recall, it seems that Swift have bitten the bullet and issued the notice, whilst the van manufacturers couldn't care less.

Mick
I saw a prime example of this yesterday at the old Clipsal site railway crossing ... It looks as though a smartass slipped in to the gap between a car in front and a semi ... result the SUV now looks like a Smart car and is a total right off.
The poor bloody truckie locked up everything trying to stop and left approx 10 metres of chatter liquorice strips on the road, from all wheels, but to no avail ... Ploughed in to the errant car which in turn ploughed in to the car in front of him.
I really wonder where some of these people get their licenses from ... common sense tells you that something with 30 plus tonne on the back is not going to pull up in the same distance as something weighing maybe 1.5 tonne.
Stay safe all and watch out for the other bloody idiots they are dangerous.
Cheers
Allan

As you know, Deb works at the CFA at Burwood (has for years). She is one of a small team who talk directly to the units after all incidents to take their reports. She has had brigade commanders break down crying while giving her their reports, which can take well over 30 minutes or an hour, in peak times with multiple reports/incidents.
I noted last night that units from Mt Martha (only one of many, but miles from Gippy) were fighting in Gippsland. These are people who may not see their families "for days" now - and they are volunteers - and yes, sadly, though thankfully rarely, they don't come home.
GOD BLESS THEM!!!!!!
AUSSIE, AUSSIE, AUSSIE - CFA CFA CFA!!!!!
(This is not specific to Vic - but thanks to ALL states rural volunteer fire fighters)
Well said Badger ... These people deserve all the help and support we can give them.
They put their lives on the line at a minutes notice and don't ask for anything in return ... Brave people the lot of them.
