tricky situation alright I would have braked to let the truck "win" so to speak as well. So it is good to get the right? way of doing it So Cab near the van speed up in this scenario, cab near me brake. Will all truckies know this?
We had a scary one yesterday.....we were heading north on South Road....stopped at red light at Seaford road ......a white tour bus like Frank drives heading south was stopped at traffic lights..when the lights turned green..to proceed ahead.. I and all the other lane drivers immediately started moving forward..then all the sudden the bus took off turning its right into Seaford Road with a red arrow.....we blasted our horns and got a finger up .....what was the idiot doing....he could have squashed many vehicles..I dont know if he had passengers but I bet they were sh*tting themselves about 9:30ish in morning
Yes South road has become a real problem since the Dingley Bypass was opened. Drivers are traveling fast and nasty with complete disregard to others. No one wants to slow, give way and change lanes instantly with many flying up the inside lane to then slam-merge when they encounter the "many" parked cars.
To everyone on South road both trucks and cars "Slow down! its not a freeway just a feeder road".
Good advice I recently well Oct last year, had a hairy incident towing a small trailer at 100KMPH in a 100K zone coming into Melbourne off the freeway. i had stayed left all the way from Bright and allowed people to pass without adieu. Yet just before and then turning to the Western Ring road a truckie in a huge rig tailgated me and I mean tailgated he was only a very few feet behind the trailer and actually looking down.
Total M..on lucky I have many many years driving experience in all types of driving conditions. If it was an inexperienced driver with a small family say there could/ almost would have been a horrific accident.Unfortunately i couldnt get his credentials or company logo etc But I hope if he sees this hell wake up to himself.
By any measure perceived or not he had no right to do what he did. Had we been walking he would now be in hospital after trying to intimidate/try his best to cause harm like that. He is safe though as he was locked in a fast moving big rig.
