We have said flueless heater and have had since we lived in Perth where they are standard. The connection points are built into all the houses and built in gas heaters are usually the imititation fire box variety. We have ceiling vents above them and can move the heater to whichever room we fancy. At the moment we have two, one being our daughters that came back with her furniture.( She had to buy one as the houses only come with the bayonets not the heater.) They're reasonably cheap to run (5 star energy rating) and work well in large open plan houses. Certainly cheaper than the 18kw ducted aircon that some idiot installed in the house when they built it. It would take All our meagre pension just to run it for a few hours a day on SA electricity prices. Our first leccy bill for less than 6 weeks was around $780 10 years ago, it was a no brainer to get gas points put in by a gas plumber, Rob installed the vents before the plumber did his bit. Maybe the Westralians are smarter than us ( not likely) but have yet to hear of people dying from using their gas heaters in WA possibly because vents and bayonets are put in when the houses are built rather than retrofitted by cowboys!
